Medical Director

Dr. Mark Banov, Medical Diector

Mark S. Banov, MD, MPH, FACPM serves as Medical Director of WellStep Atlanta.  He is Board Certified in Addiction Medicine by the American Board of Addiction Medicine.

Dr. Banov studied Addiction Medicine at the Harvard University School of Public Health, where he received a Master of Public Health degree. He received further postgraduate education at the Harvard Medical School/McLean Hospital Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse and in Rochester, Minnesota, at the Mayo Clinic. He has served as a Principal Investigator for FDA regulated research trials on new treatments for opiate dependence, alcoholism, depression, attention deficit disorder, and anxiety disorder

Dr. Banov was selected to participate in the Professionals in Residence program at the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, California and completed the program in 2011.

A member of the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry and the American Society of Addiction Medicine, Dr. Banov is a Fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine. He is an AAMRO certified Medical Review Officer for federal drug testing programs.

Dr. Banov serves on the medical staff of the Department of Medicine of Gwinnett Hospital System.
